Do I have to create a profile just for one visit?

If you are new, yes. You are required to create a MatWorks profile with our booking company Mindbody which includes our liability waiver. This only takes a minute and also ensures that you can reserve a place in the class. To do this simply click “Login | Register” in the top right corner of the page where you can follow the prompts to register as a new client.

I’m a beginner. Is that okay?

We recommend new clients to start with our 3 for 2 intro deal. This will teach you the basics of how to breathe, how to engage your abdominals correctly, how to find your posture in all the different typical Pilates positions and address any underlying issues that you may not realise you have. We want you to go into your first class feeling super prepared, and confident that you are doing the right thing!

What is the best class to start with?

After your 3 introductory private lessons your instructor will help you decide what is the best class to start with suited to your needs. If you still feel at a loss, mat is normally the best place to start. This gives you a chance to get to know your body without any equipment to confuse things further. Most of our classes are open level which means that beginners are welcome. We will always provide you with multiple modifications to make things easier or harder depending on your level.

Do I need to bring anything?

If you are doing our mobile mat classes you will need to bring a mat. For any in home or work mobile classes we will supply everything you need, mats and equipment. If you are going to any of our premium locations everything is provided for you!

What should I wear?

Comfortable yoga/pilates gear is best. Most people wear tights and a t-shirt and SOCKS! Socks are important for hygiene on the mats and equipment.

Can men join in on MatWorks classes?

Yes Absolutely! We love having men in our classes and they love it too! We’ve had lots of feedback that it’s not as easy as it looks and a very complementary workout to other sports training. If you feel nervous, why not try our Blokes only Pilates class first?

How long are your classes?

Our mobile classes are 45 minutes but our premium and private classes are 55minutes.

Can I pay for my class at the studio or should I pay online?

For mobile classes and premium Newmarket we cannot accept payments in person, so in order to book a class you will need to either pay online via credit card before the class or go into our Remuera studio to pay with Eftpos, Cash or Cheque.

For Premium Remuera you can do either. It’s better for you if you book and pay online or pay in advance at the studio.

Do I need to book?

Yes. Bookings are essential especially because of our minimum numbers policy which implores that classes with only 1 person booked will be cancelled. We definitely recommend booking classes online as some of our busier classes can book out in advance. If the class is waitlist only, please do put yourself on the waiting list as spaces often come up.

Do you have a mobile app?

Yes! Manage your class bookings easily with our MatWorks app, available from the App Store. Look for the MatWorks logo.

How do I book a class?

1.  Choose between the Mobile and Premium booking pages.
2. Filter the classes from the drop down box
3. Choose your date
4. Click “book now” next to the class of your choice
5. A pop up box will appear where you will need to login or create an account if you are new to MatWorks. This doesn’t take long.
6. Purchase your payment option.
7. Your class is booked and you will receive a confirmation email.

What happens if I book a class and don’t turn up or cancel at late notice?

If you “no show” or cancel within 24 hours of the class start time, you will be charged for the class as if you had attended as it means another client will miss out. Please respect other students by only booking classes that you will definitely attend.

How do I cancel a class?

To cancel a class, simply login to your MatWorks account using the “Login” button in the top right corner of the page, and under the MY INFO tab select My Schedule. This will give you a list of any classes you have prebooked, and the option to Reschedule or Cancel.  You may also cancel your class directly from the MatWorks app.

I can’t login to my account. How do I reset my password?

Using the same “Login” button in the top right corner of the page, type in your email address and then select “Need New Password?”

Pricing options

Please note that all pricing options pay for anything of lesser value. So Premium Studio class pricing options pay for all Reformer, Intermediate Reformer, Gym Group, Blokes, Premium Mat, Barre, Stretch and MatWorks Mobile Mat classes.

Pricing

Please view our Mobile and Premium Pricing pages to view all our class and membership options.

Can I use my pass/membership at all studios?

Yes you can use your Premium class passes or memberships at either Premium Studio and at our Mobile Classes. However you can’t use your Mobile pricing options to pay for Premium classes.

Can I share my 10 class pass with family or friends?

No. We would love to see your friend in class, however we do not permit package sharing as our passes are great value and intended for individual use only.

Can my 10 class pass be extended?

All packages are non-extendable. Please note the expiry date of your pass once it is activated and be sure to book yourself into your favourite classes within the time frame to avoid disappointment.

Can I have a 10 class pass for both Mobile and Premium?

Yes. If you want to avoid paying premium prices for mobile classes you can purchase a 10 class pass for both mobile and premium. Unfortunately our system doesn’t allow you to specify which payment option you want to use for what, so occasionally it will make a mistake and use your premium pricing option to pay for mobile classes. If you suspect this is happening please email us and we will sort it out for you!

What payment options do you offer?

Memberships must be purchased using Direct Debit from a bank account. Download and fill out this form and send it to [email protected] with the date and membership type you would like to commence.

Any other pricing option can be purchased online using Credit/Direct Debit card.

If you wish to pay in Cash/Cheque or Eftpos you can do so at our Remuera Studio Only.

What offers do you have for new clients?

We currently offer two deals.

  1. 3 for 2 Intro Deal. You get 3 private one on ones, either Mobile or at our Premium Remuera studio. These last 55 minutes each and can be scheduled within one month.
  2. 5 classes for $55. You get 5 of any of our classes except Studio Classes for $55. You can use these at any location for either Mobile or Premium classes. This offer lasts two weeks from purchase.

Do you offer a free trial class?

Unfortunately we no longer offer any complimentary classes, however our new client offers provide excellent value.

When does my intro pass start?

Both of our intro offers start from the time of purchase.

Can I do the intro offer again?

As our intro offers are only available for first time clients, if you have already redeemed this offer then it won’t be available to purchase again. You must also choose one offer only, you cannot have both. Of course we would love to see you again and have a number of other cost effective passes and memberships available.

How does the waitlist work?

We highly recommend that you waitlist if the class is full. 95% of the time a space will open up and you will be notified via email and text message (depending on your profile preferences). If you need to check if you are subscribed to receive notifications you can do so under “My Info” on your MatWorks profile.

The system will not move you off the waitlist and into the class list inside of the 24 hour cancellation window. If a spot becomes available we will manually move you into the class and you will receive a notification. If you are likely to make other plans please cancel your waitlist booking so we don’t add you and charge you when you can’t make it.

How do I opt-in to receive notifications in case I’m added to a class from the waitlist?

To update your notification preferences visit “My Info” on your MatWorks profile. You get to this by using the “Login” button in the top right corner of the screen. Otherwise you can also change your preferences via your MatWorks app.

Do I have to pay for a class even if I’m booking to go on the waitlist?

If you pay casually for classes you will not be able to book even for the waitlist without an active pricing options, so yes you do need to pay for the class at the time of booking. If you do not make it into the class, this payment option will remain valid on your account and will be used automatically to pay for the next class you book into. Casual classes have a 30 day expiry so as long as you book into another class within 30 days of purchase, you won’t miss out on your pre-purchased class.

How do I purchase a gift voucher?

To purchase a gift voucher, please visit our Mindbody site. Here you will see the Gift Card option and can select from one of the suggested values or create a custom amount. The gift voucher will then be emailed to your loved one.

I received a gift voucher, how can I use it?

Please email [email protected] with the gift card ID and details of the product or service you wish to redeem it against. We will then process the transaction and apply the credit to your payment. Any remaining credit will still be attached to the same gift card ID and can be used again before the gift card expires. If there isn’t enough credit to cover the cost of your purchase, then you’re welcome to make up the remaining balance by cash or credit card.

Do you offer private 1:1 sessions and how do I arrange this?

Yes, absolutely! We offer these at our Premium Remuera Studio.

To arrange a private session with one of our gorgeous teachers, either book directly online or via the app, or email [email protected] with your availability and preferred location.

How do I organise a pre or postnatal 1:1 session?

These sessions are essentially the same as our Private sessions but by booking a Pre or Post Natal Private session you will automatically be booked with an instructor who is well versed in Pre or Post Natal Pilates, and it alerts us to your needs.

Can I bring my child?

Unfortunately we can’t welcome babies or children to any of our studios. However, if they are over 16 years of age, they are of course welcome to join in class as a client.

If you are hosting a private lesson at home and want your child there with you, to either be by you or to join in, we can allow this.

I’m pregnant. Can I join class?

Yes! We love pregnant ladies at MatWorks and our classes. Your teacher will give you appropriate modifications and before commencing class please let your instructor know how far along you are.

You may attend classes in the first trimester with no modifications until you begin to show, but be a little more gentle with your body and avoid twisting positions that compress the belly.

When you enter the second and third trimesters, you’ll hopefully be feeling a little more comfortable in your changing body, and the modifications will become second nature. There are mainly 6 things to avoid.

  1. Lying on your back for prolonged periods, longer than 5 minutes.
  2. Full Plank
  3. Tradition Crunches
  4. Traditional crunches with rotation, i.e. Oblique work.
  5. Any extension of both your legs when lying on your back.
  6. Lying prone or face down.

Pilates classes are a fantastic way to prepare for labour (fitness + strong legs & butt are a big help during the contractions and active labour) and keep your body toned, making it much easier to regain your shape after bub is born.
