Do I have to create a profile just for one visit?
If you are new, yes. You are required to create a MatWorks profile with our booking company Mindbody which includes our liability waiver. This only takes a minute and also ensures that you can reserve a place in the class. To do this simply click “Login | Register” in the top right corner of the page where you can follow the prompts to register as a new client.
I’m a beginner. Is that okay?
We recommend new clients to start with our 3 for 2 intro deal. This will teach you the basics of how to breathe, how to engage your abdominals correctly, how to find your posture in all the different typical Pilates positions and address any underlying issues that you may not realise you have. We want you to go into your first class feeling super prepared, and confident that you are doing the right thing!
What is the best class to start with?
After your 3 introductory private lessons your instructor will help you decide what is the best class to start with suited to your needs. If you still feel at a loss, mat is normally the best place to start. This gives you a chance to get to know your body without any equipment to confuse things further. Most of our classes are open level which means that beginners are welcome. We will always provide you with multiple modifications to make things easier or harder depending on your level.
Do I need to bring anything?
If you are doing our mobile mat classes you will need to bring a mat. For any in home or work mobile classes we will supply everything you need, mats and equipment. If you are going to any of our premium locations everything is provided for you!
What should I wear?
Comfortable yoga/pilates gear is best. Most people wear tights and a t-shirt and SOCKS! Socks are important for hygiene on the mats and equipment.
Can men join in on MatWorks classes?
Yes Absolutely! We love having men in our classes and they love it too! We’ve had lots of feedback that it’s not as easy as it looks and a very complementary workout to other sports training. If you feel nervous, why not try our Blokes only Pilates class first?
How long are your classes?
Our mobile classes are 45 minutes but our premium and private classes are 55minutes.
